L7 began in Los Angeles in 1985 with guitarist-vocalists Donita Sparks and Suzi Gardner. Records including Smell the Magic helped establish the band’s mix of punk force, heavy riffs and blunt humour. Their history runs through Sub Pop and the wider alternative-rock explosion of the early 1990s.
