Green Auto puts independent bands on the bill alongside touring acts, with its New & Known Band Showcase giving emerging players a way onto the stage. Its own programme stretches across a busy network of local bills—a useful starting point for following Vancouver’s smaller-room music scene.
ON THE BILL
Hedonist
Hedonist is a four-piece death-metal band from Victoria, British Columbia, releasing through Southern Lord. Their catalogue includes Scapulimancy, and the label places their work in the lineage of Bolt Thrower, Nihilist, Entombed and Dismember: a direct route into old-school heaviness.
Extensive Slaughter emerged from Vancouver’s death-metal and hardcore community, borrowing their name from a song by British crust band Excrement of War. Their 2023 release More Than a Nightmare arrived through local label Neon Taste Records, connecting the project to the city’s independent punk network.
Mass Grave is a Vancouver grindcore band that began around 2000, drawing from the crust-punk intensity of Disrupt and Extreme Noise Terror. Their catalogue includes Our Due Descent and a split with Japan’s Unholy Grave, connecting a long local history to an international underground.
AHNA is a Vancouver heavy-music project whose recorded history stretches from the early Cult of One releases to Perpetual Warfare and Crimson Dawn. Graham Christofferson and Anju Singh anchor the band’s history, which crosses drone, doom, crust and blackened death metal without staying in one lane.
